Dear Vic,
What we have in mind is a grand reunion at FEU Campus,a dinner at a place in Metro Manila,  golf tournament,a picnic outside MetroManila, another in a beach-how about Coron Palawan or Zamboanga with our host Ramon Enriquez ( he does'nt know this) and those who want to go to Macau or Singapore would be fine. Keep giving suggestions, we are taking notes.

Hi Vic and Hermie,
Now that the word is out for our PI reunion, one area of concerned that Vic mentioned is getting the word out to our local classmates.  So far, this is being done by word of mouth. Hermie, how about coordinating this area with Norberto (Geronimo), of ways to reach the rest of our local classmates, specially the women. If you got his e-mail address, please forward it to me and I will drop him a note. Is he listed in our class web site na ba? Thanks.

Thank you for some of the details of the activities we can have when we hold this reunion next year. I believe, especially the ones from overseas, should make their commitments known as early as possible, so that our PI classmates will have an idea how to organize this event. I know its a year away, and thats barely 12 months. By the way, can you pin down the time which week or even the days we are holding this in February. A lot of our classmates are still working here in US/Canada and to be able to plan in advance, especially booking their vacations at work is time critical. Meanwhile, we can start mobilizing the troops here and get this reunion to a good jumpstart. How about reps in California, Midwest and the Eastcoast, Narcing, are the Canadians ready?
Hey, procrastination is our enemy here, so please, lets get our acts together. We have been planning this since the Sn Diego reunion, so now, its almost here!!!!
Thanks Doc for the infos. Let us know whatever help you may need so we can assist you.

We have more projects under development and I shall keep you posted. These may convince you to join us, notwithstanding that we still have our own group, MT'69.

Classmates, let us welcome Dr. Jacinto (Jack) Almazan into our group. Sorry I missed your call Jack, I was in LVegas for the weekend but nevertheless, it was nice to hear from you from Sacramento. Like you said, if you are dropping by next year in Vancouver, don't hesitate to call me, okay? As you are aware by now, we are planning the next reunion in the Philippines during the month of Feb, 2011. If you are up to it, please join us. DoC Hermi and his group in the Phil are at work with the organizing. Rolly just came back and gave us the feedback. So, now that you are with the group, we welcome you, and join in, let us know whats the latest with you.

Dear batchmates,
Happy to have a positive response from Ginger Enriquez about an outside trip to Zamboanga on February 2012. We are going to talk to Ramon when he comes to Manila for more details.
Let us start our networking to reach more of our classmates. How about asking everybody to find even one of our classmates and then posting their email address or even face-book address so that we can persuade them to join the bandwagon and make our reunion memorable. Let us start the head-counting.

In my position as the meanest secretary clerk from 1967 to 1979, I can say that we'ved only known three students that Dr. Matawaran, Dr. Magkasi, Mrs Rosario Garcia (RIP), Mrs Zenaida Vizconde and myself talked about so much who was on top of their class. That person is Dr. Joseph Carpio and the other two are one female (Chinese) I forgot her name and a male who did not take his internshihp because he came to the US, Mr. Larry Abacan.

If you can remember,  I prepared the list of all students for the promotion board meetings and responsible of taking all your grades from all Departments to your registration cards. That's why I know your name very well. If you are enrolled for 6 subjects, I will encounter your name 6 times. We  don't have computer then, but today, that would be easier due to modern set up. And for those gentleman, during enrollment time, they cannot enroll until they have the military haircut.
I am so mean. No haircut, no enrollment. Sorry.....

Those were my days in FEU.

Dr. Magkasi I think is still with the Our Lady of Fatima University in Valenzuela. She still teach Pathology in second year medicine proper.
I met her in 1985 when I start teaching and doing surgery in the Medical Center and she is my pathologist for my surgical specimens. She is my strong ally when I became chairman of the department of surgery because we try to improve the teaching method and try to resist pressure to pass undeserving medical students. I left the department and my practice in 2008 when I turned 60 but she remained with the college of medicine and also with the medical center.

Dear Classmates,
We attended the reunion last night of our alumni society and we learn that aside from our group, the batches 75,76 and 77 alumni are also coming to the reunion next February. They are thinking of two day activities at the FEU campus perhaps scientific and social.
Our group therefore, may have another fellowship day and then a trip to the province-perhaps Nagcarlan Laguna or Zamboanga or both.

For more information contact the alumni website

Subject: [feumt_1969] Phil Reunion 2012 Charity Project

Hey Guys and Gals,

FEUMT1969 should look into and consider adopting 'One Heart for Hope Foundation' as a Charity project. It is already in place. There is no need to re-invent the wheel. We do not know any of the organizers, but whoever they are, the fruits of their works are truly amazing. We know that Cora Nacu-Rauen has been a volunteer fund raiser and is doing a great job but a little bit shy. The lives of those children whom we have touched in many ways with our heartfelt donations certainly have seen the light of hope. Someday, one of them would become a Doctor, a Nurse, a Lawyer, an Engineer, a Teacher or maybe even a Med Tech. It would be consoling and nice to say, "glad we made a little donation that made a big difference in the lives of these children."

They say that Charity begins at home. Here is one Charity that is truly homegrown in one of the less fortunate areas of heartland Philippines. We support so many religious and charity organizations here in the United States. It is no wonder why these organizations are flourishing but they seem to be always wanting for more donations. Why not make also a little donation to our hometown poor kids. They need our help.

We would like to propose to our group to include this 'One Heart for Hope Foundation' to be one of the agenda projects during the upcoming 2012 February reunion in the Philippines. Maybe visiting these chldren wherever they are can add more color and smiles to our trip. Meanwhile, those who would like to make donations now should follow their hearts and give whatever and however big or small to help a needy child in the Philippines. www.oneheartforhope.org
Thank you for giving a thought.

To all co-grads. I think it is about time to really focus about organizing everything we only have 11 months to go to prepare for this reunion we should have a serious meeting about this I think it is about time that we should have the names of the organizing committee so that we will know what are the updates do we have the place what date how much are we going to contribute to whatever expenses we need because by this time we should have the exact date and place and then we can give the downpayment for the place that we will be having the reunion and whoever is interested to join should give their address and tel no to Vic Festejo or Narciso Mejia so that we will know who are really going to attend so that we can book for our flights how about this I am just suggesting this if you think it is okey.

Tentative date is Feb 4 and 5, 2012. It seems that the groups coming from the USA would want to stay together at Island Cove in Cavite. But surely, there will be activities at FEU-NRMF at Fairview.

Thank you for your immediate interests and concerns. I agree with Jo re: her suggestions who is organizing what.  Majority of our members are from California and being a gateway to the Pacific, better to get the organizing team be based in California; be it L.A. or San Diego. We are not going to assign people to do this task. We shall be asking for volunteers who can get an organizing committee, whose main task is to secure a travel agent who can provide us the service from flight plans, accomodations in Manila, excursion trips and local transporations. Mind you, this can also be arrange in Manila. Rolly might want to coordinate with Herminio in Manila to pin down our dates so that we can prepare for booking our vacations and our flights. The program of activities can be initiated in Manila in conjunction with the Alumni association office. Once intineraries are available, we can decide the other activities we might want to do while we are in Manila. Side trips to Singapore, Thailand or China, or even to Palawan, Boracay or Bohol, etc, etc, etc. These are some of the tasks we are facing....so I am calling from our 'mates in California to put their heads together so that we can really get this event going. We are hoping for your quick response and attention.

Thank you,

Through Doc Hermie's initiative, FEUMTAA gave us a tentative date for the FEU alumni homecoming, in conjunction with 2 other batches from the US. It is going to be FEBRUARY 4 and FEBRUARY 5, 2012. There, we have something to work with now. I hope, this is enough incentive to get the organization going. First thing first, we need to know .......WHO ARE GOING TO MAKE THIS TRIP??????? Now is the time to voice out your commitments so our classmates who are going to organize this will have a working number of attendees to work with. I shall start the sign up from this point on. My wife and I will be attending. Those who will follow suit, I'll start noting it down on the list. I shall update this list every month as people commit, and pass it on to the organizers. Its a good start and I hope we can get everyone on board.
Thank you,

This is the tentative reunion schedule from Manila, as per FEU MT Alumni Society, and Lennie Natividad, Director of School of Med Tech.

FEBRUARY 3, 2012  Friday;     Welcome activity and campus tour of FEU NRMF ( Fairview, QC )
Welcome dinner at a restaurant in QC,  details to follow

FEBRUARY 4, 2012  Saturday;   Day is open, evening is our planned dinner and dance

FEBRUARY 5, 2012  Sunday;     Mass in the morning and picnic in Nagcarlan, Laguna after mass?

Since we are with the 75, 76 and 77 group, and as they have their own agenda, our Saturday and Sunday is still open to any suggestions. We are waiting for some ideas from Manila ( attn: Herminio, Ching, Manny and Dante). If we can get at least 20 to 30 commitments from US and Canada, its still well worth it since we have our local counterparts in Manila who'll join us. Please plan your own side trips like within the Philippines or neighboring SE Asian countries and avail to local travel agencies in Manila, since we don't really know your vacation schedules. Some may come early, and some may elect to stay 'til the end of February or even as long as 6 months. I leave it to your own discretions to make your own plans, and we shall keep you posted as more information trickles in. Good luck and you all have a nice and safe summer.

HELLO  MT  1969,

AS YOU ARE AWARE THAT THE FEUMTAANA IS GRADUALLY EVOLVING INTO ITS INTERNATIONAL STATUS, WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A REUNION IN LAS VEGAS OF ALL FEUMTS, AND I AM PERSONALLY INVITING MY 1969 CLASSMATES TO JOIN US ON SEPT 24, 25 AND 26, 2012 IN LAS VEGAS, AT THE PALACE STATION HOTEL.
IF IT MIGHT INTEREST YOU, ONE OF OUR GUEST SPEAKER , IS OUR VERY OWN CLASSMATE, PROF. CONNIE REYES-MAHON.

WE ARE ALSO HEAVILY INVOLVED WITH OUR COUNTERPART IN MANILA, THE FEUMTAS-NRMF, OUR OWN ALUMNI SOCIETY IN THE PHILIPPINES, THROUGH THE ALUMNI PRES, SCHL OF MT DIRECTOR AND OUR OWN CLASSMATE, DR. LEVY DELA ROSA, HEAD OF MICROBIOLOGY. IT IS ALSO INTERESTING THAT THROUGH THE GRANT PROVIDED BY THE FUMTAANA, WE HAVE UPDATED OUR LIST OF GRADUATES, I969 INCLUDED. JUST VISIT THE FEUMTAS WEBSITE. WE ALSO HAVE PROVIDED THREE SCHOLARSHIP THROUGH THE DESERVING STUDENT AS RECOMMENDED BY THE SCHOOL. NOW, THE FEUMT STUDENTS ARE ALSO PARTICIPATING IN RENAMING OUR INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION ( to replace the FEUMTAANA- very confining geographically), AND DESIGNING A NEW LOGO REFLECTING OUR INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION. SO, EVEN THOUGH WE ARE STILL PROGRESSING THRU OUR BABY STEPS GROWTH, THE FEUMTS ARE GRADUALLY RESPONDING TO OUR CALL TO JOIN OUR GROUP BECAUSE THEY REALLY WANT TO BELONG AND CONTRIBUTE TO OUR ALMA MATER AND PROFESSION. AND OF COURSE, THERE IS ALSO THE SOCIAL ASPECT, LIKE REUNIONS AND WORTHWHILE PROJECTS.

I HOPE YOU WILL SAVE THOSE

     RESPECTFULLLY YOURS,

Dear All,
We only have one Alumni society at the moment. FEU-Manila, as we call it, has not graduated any student. The faculty members are very different from ours, they were recruited from various schools and only a few of them are alumni of FEU-NRMF. We don't know the standard of their instruction.

A brief history, in addition to that found in the BOI:
When the Institute of Medicine became a Foundation in the 1970s, it had a separate Article of Incorporation with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Although the members of the Board of Trustees were also the same people in the Board of FEU-Manila, it became a separate entity. The management people were entirely separate. The point was that as early as 1970s, after the second year level of the Med Tech program, the students who qualified for the third year were considered tranferees to the Foundation even when we were still in the same campus. There was a separate Registrar.  (BTW, we transferred to Fairview in 1999; in 1983, The Foundation purchased the Boys High School bldg in the Manila Campus and transferred there from the Science Bldg.)

All of us who graduated since the first batch will have to get a copy of our transcript of records from the FEU-NRMF registrar. You wont be able to get one from FEU-Manila anymore.

Through the years after we transferred to Fairview, students from Manila were sent to FEU-NRMF for the 3rd year and 4th year level through a Memorandum Of Agreement between Manila and NRMF. When the enrollment in Nursing Program underwent a very significant decline two years ago, FEU-Manila refused to send the students to NRMF anymore, especially when they observed an upsurge of enrollment in the MT Program.

(We already felt an indifference from FEU-Manila a few years before that. The first and second year MT students were being encouraged to shift to Nursing so they wouldn't lose them, which explained a decline in the enrollment at FEU-NRMF. This led to the decision of the FEU-NRMF management to offer it's own first year courses. Thus, we now have a complete MT Program from first year to fourth year).

FEU-Manila applied to CHED to open its own MT Program. It cannot use our CHED Recognition because FEU-NRMF is a separate entity. It was given permission and recognition and now it has its own faculty. The quality of instruction is different from ours, I do not know if it's better. It has much more students that we have simply because it is using our performance and achievement in its marketing. People all over the country know that FEU is in Morayta. Many thought that the students will still be made to transfer FEU-NRMF and they are dismayed when they discover otherwise including many of our alumni who sent their children to FEU.

That's the history that explains why we now have two different MT Programs and two FEUs.

I hope this enlightens everybody.

I also have a soft spot for FEU-Manila, because that's where I spent four years of my college life and where I started my teaching career. But we have to distinguish our alumni, who received quality instructions and who were trained very well so that they are respected wherever they gain employment. We do not know yet how the graduates of FEU-Manila will fare.

Best regards,
Lennie

Dear batchmates,
We had the meeting this afternoon and Pilar and Rolly attended it. These are now the schedule of activities for our reunion.
February 2-Thursday Bistro Mateo, Tiendicitas Pasig City besides SM Hypermart 5:00PM. Program in Pilipino and you have to introduce yourself, and talk a little about your family or your work and about a memorable time while in FEU and give a take home message for our batch. There would be a game about identifying someone in the picture while we are students and then Pinoy Henyo about FEU and us. Be ready to sing Pambansang Awit ng Pilipinas, our FEU hymn and recite Panatang Makabayan. Ching would decorate the place, Amor prepared our program and Ed San Juan made the deposit for the place. Amor prepared also our t-shirts and hat and he is also our program director and the masters of ceremony are Ching, Manny and Dante. I just watched. Ramon Enriquez, our host in Zamboanga would attend.

February 3-Friday Nostalgic Walk in FEU Campus in Morayta at 11am to be led by Rolly Ontog, with our T-shirts (in lieu of the Scientific Seminar in FEU at Fairview Quezon City) and then Dinner Social in FEU Campus in Fairview Quezon City at 6PM. We will meet the other MT alumni.
February 4-Saturday RJ Jacinto at Dusit Hotel In Makati City 6PM
February 5 Sunday Villa Escudero and Tagaytay, assembly time 5:00am Bistro Mateo Tiendicitas Pasig City besides SM Hypermart. Please note that there is no available parking at 5:00am and we cannot leave our car in the streets and so make the necessary arrangements.
February 10-February 12 Zamboanga.
If you would attend Feb.2 Bistro Mateo, Feb.4 RJ Jacinto Feb.5 Villa Escudero and Tagaytay plus the T-shirts and hat with FEU logo, the package cost is P5,000. We rounded the amount for easy collection by Ching and any amount that is not used after these activities will be donated to charity. We hope and pray that we will enjoy our reunion and CLASSMATES, WE WELCOME YOU.

Dinner at Tagaytay ------------------------------------ ?????????

So, here are the hard facts and receipts are here for authentication. Let us meet before we leave for Zamboanga City because I still have to pay Doc Miniong and Doc Ed for the money they paid for reservation. Some say that what we have asked is too much, I spent my own money for the decorations and "giveaways" (more than P5000.) which I am not asking back. I paid for my share  and for the extra T-shirt. Our plan of giving any left-over for charity will remain as that--- a hope and dream because we might be paying for whatever shortage there might be.Hopefully, another person (Ellen) is coming on Sunday and that fee will tide us over. I can never be a politician because I cannot have a thick-skinned face. It hurts when we try to do our best and we still hear something.. HAAAAAAY ! It is misconceived that the Philippines is  a "bargain" country. Not

MARAMING SALAMAT
Roland Suarez Ontog
12-2-2012

Dear Jeannie and Mon,
Just a note to let you know that we got back to Manila safely. Thanks to Rose, for ushering us thru the airport like clockwork and got us to the gate conveniently short of boarding.  Please extend our sincerest appreciation to her.

I just don't know where to start, on how to thank you for the open-arm reception we received from your wonderful house and the family treatment we received - from the time you picked us up to the airport, to the very last minute we left for the airport. We were so overwhelmed with the royal treatment you've extended us. We were so blessed to had met such a wonderful couple and family.

We will treasure this fellowship and memories in our minds and hearts for the rest of our life and we won't forget, specially, the blessings you had shared with us while we were there.
Thanks to Dexter, for taking the time from his busy schedule, to get us entertained this weekend. We won't forget the experienced we had at the firing range.

MARAMING, MARAMING SALAMAT again, for the hospitality, and sharing your Christian faith with us. God bless!

Wth utmost respect and love,

Rolly
